Quality Payment Program

The Quality Payment Program (QPP) is a Medicare reimbursement system launched by CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) under the MACRA law (Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015). It moves healthcare providers away from the fee-for-service model and rewards them for quality, cost-efficiency, and improved patient outcomes.

Who Participates in QPP?

Clinicians billing Medicare Part B and meeting the following:

  • At least $90,000 in Medicare Part B allowed charges

  • 200+ Medicare Part B beneficiaries

  • 400+ covered professional services

Eligible clinicians include:

  • Physicians

  • Nurse practitioners

  • Physician assistants

  • Clinical nurse specialists

  • CRNAs (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists)
